JRT is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Database Developer who takes pride in ownership and accountability to join our dynamic marketing firm. In this role, you won't just develop databases – you'll fully own the products and projects you work on, maintaining visibility, continuous improvement and accountability for their success. Your expertise will directly enhance our clients' marketing strategies and facilitate multi-million-dollar transactions.

You'll collaborate closely with our account and web development teams to create innovative data solutions, owning the projects from inception through ongoing management and maintenance. We expect you to proactively monitor, optimize and demonstrate ongoing pride and responsibility for the databases and solutions you develop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and own efficient, reusable and reliable SQL databases
  • Take full responsibility for the quality and performance of your solutions, proactively optimizing and refining databases and data processing jobs
  • Maintain ongoing ownership and monitoring of database performance, security, availability and health – regularly reviewing logs, metrics and system behavior
  • Lead and perform database procedures, including upgrades, backups, recoveries, migrations and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Actively profile and optimize server resource usage, ensuring efficient and stable database environments
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders, clearly understanding, documenting and addressing data requirements while advocating best practices
  • Implement and own automated processes for data handling and quality assurance, ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of client data solutions
  • Stay proactively informed of industry trends and database technologies, recommending enhancements to maintain our leadership position in database solutions
  • Integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into workflows to identify efficiencies and improve database solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of database development experience, preferably within marketing agencies or similar industries
  • Proven record of ownership and accountability for complex database projects from start to finish
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL, including hands-on experience in schema design, stored procedure development and query optimization
  • Experience with Python and R for data analysis and manipulation is a plus
  • Comfortable integrating AI technologies into workflows to enhance efficiency and solution quality
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability to initiate, own and drive projects independently with minimal guidance, displaying ongoing pride and accountability in your work

Work Environment

  • Office setting, currently three days onsite (T-W-Th) and two days WFH (M, F); adjusted as necessary to complete work assignments
